Born in Melbourne, Mary Groves moved to the Northern Territory with her family when she was 14. In her early 20s she married Joe, a rodeo rider, and they went on to have four children and live on an array of cattle stations and run a variety of different businesses in the Top End. Now in her early sixties, Mary lives near the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Mary is the author of “An outback life” her story of spending the prime of her life in the Northern Territory, often struggling to put a meal on the table, told in simple, straightforward language, the narrative zipping along at a lively pace, with one cracking yarn after another.
An Outback Life by Mary Groves is her story set over 40 years in the outback of Australia. Her tenacity and perseverance & most importantly – a sense of humour shines through in this wonderful tale of an outback life.
